How to choose the right paving material

A quick framework for narrowing down your options before you request a quote.

Start with how the area will be used. Driveways need strength and vehicle-load capacity (clay brick or cobblestone in herringbone), while patios and pool areas benefit more from comfort underfoot and heat resistance (flagstone or lighter concrete pavers).

Consider your budget band honestly — concrete pavers deliver excellent value for larger areas, while clay brick and natural stone cost more upfront but often outlast them by decades.

Think about maintenance appetite. Permeable paving is fantastic for water management but needs periodic joint maintenance; tar is low-maintenance short-term but needs resurfacing sooner than paved alternatives.

When in doubt, our Paving Options guide compares every material side by side — or just tell us the area and how you'll use it when you request a quote, and we'll recommend what fits.
